Ashanti stools are hand carved from a single block of wood. They have always been an intricate part of Ghanaian culture.
Stools indicate status, power and succession of chiefs and kings. Carved from single blocks,
Ashanti stools traditionally have crescent-shaped seats, flat bases and complex support structures, which exist in many designs with symbolic meaning.
The Sankofa symbol is carved on both sides of the stool.
This stool is carved from Sese or cedar wood. This stool measures 22.5 “long, 11.5” wide, 15” high.
